Cool The Truth is Inconvenient...so Let's Exaggerate Instead!

This was a response to the inaccuracies in his movie "An Inconvenient Truth", and after a British judge mandated warning of inaccuracy before showing the film in schools.

Basically what he's saying is that he needed to make the problem look more dire than it really is, so that people would listen to him and his solutions for the problem...the problem that isn't really as 'end-of-the-world' as his film portrayed.

Doesn't this statement on top of all the inconsistencies in his film just continue to hurt his credibility, and therefore hurt his abilities to actually get his solutions put into legislation and such? If climate shift ('Global Warming') is a problem that we can fix or worsen by our actions, wouldn't it make sense to tackle the problem realistically? I guess he figured exaggeration was the best way to go.

Here are some more fun things to roll around in your head from former VP Gore Funny Al Gore Quotes

I know a lot of politicians use sarcasm and exaggerations of truth to get their point across, so let's try to stay on the topic of Al Gore specifically and 'Global Warming' / "An Inconvenient Truth" as much as possible.

The sad part of all of this is that the people on the left feel that he is justified in exagerating the truth. The end justifies the means.

Unless you're the Bush administration where the truth is reported as a lie.

Sorry, I forgot you wanted us to stay on topic.

I for one think global warming is real. I just don’t think we are the cause. I'm not saying that we should go out and drive big cars and pollute as much as possible. I think we should be good stewards of the earth.

My concern is when people want to pass laws that will adversely affect the US and the economy like the Kyoto protocol. Al Gore and others like him are dangerous because they are willing and able to lie to get a message out, and there are people out there that treat his word like gospel.

The data behind the Kyoto protocol shows that if all measures are implemented the average temperature of the Earth by 2050 would only be .06C (.108F) lower than if we didn't implement any of it. So all the billions of dollars pumped into the Kyoto protocol measures would basically result in a total difference in temperature of one-tenth of a degree (F) than if we did nothing at all. Money well spent?

I agree we should be good stewards of the environment. I was able to distinguish that polluting was 'bad' when I was an adolescent teen, and didn't need Al Gore or the threat of global destruction to know it. Lying to push the issues...Al Gore = Hero. Lying to push a war (supposedly) President Bush = Impeach him.

I see what's going on...but I'm sorry, we're off topic again.

Re: The Truth is Inconvenient...so Let's Exaggerate Instead!

I just saw on the news that Al Gore won the Nobel Peace prize.

Al that does is add credibility to the cause that really needs to be discredited.

So some guy that pollutes more in one day than most families pollute in 2-3 weeks wins the prize.

It shouldn't be that surprising, after all, Arafat won the prize too. Next year Hugo Chavez will be in the running.

What a joke!
