I'm just plain sick and tired of this 'solving history as we write it' mentality of politicians. It's funny that democrats keep harping the same story of "we should never have invaded" and "it's all Don Rumsfeld's fault". What does that accomplish but start debates and bickering?
I just read a story that had Republicans saying that we've done everything in Iraq we can militarily and that the Iraqi government is the one dropping the ball. The Democratic response was that this was just a Republican tactic to shift blame away for a failed policy and a “mission that didn’t turn out as planned.”
Can we please dispense with the: would’ve, could’ve, and should’ve until we’re actually done with all of this? Let’s have all politicians work together on a solution instead of just “sticking” to their guns on one side or the other of the issue. Issues aren’t black and white, especially security and war. Figure it out and finish it somehow, sometime, and be done with it. We’ll have plenty of time after it’s over to debate the lessons learned and how it could’ve been done better, or shouldn’t have been done at all.
