Abdul Aziz al-Hakim, the leader of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI); the largest Shi'a political party, and Muqtada al-Sadr, the leader of Jaysh al-Mahdi (JAM); the largest Shi'a militia/group in Iraq, have made a peace and unity agreement.
Also; Abdul Aziz al-Hakim (of the ISCI) offered a statement that the Sunni Concerned Local Citizen (CLC) groups/militias are a benefit to security in Iraq and should continue to provide that security until the Iraqi Police and Iraqi Army can fill those security gaps.
So the Shi'a groups want to unite (in peace...not violence), and the Sunni groups are getting verbal approval and soft congratulations from the big Shi'a groups.
Sounds like things might start to work out...or at least have a shot.
