Why people aren't going to anti-war movies
I just read this article at Breitbart.com.
Hollywood is casualty of war as movie-goers shun Iraq films It basically discusses why people are not going to watch movies about the war in Iraq. It mentions that people don't want to pay for what they can get for free on the news. It also mentions that they are just not entertaining enough and that the subject is still too fresh in people's minds. I think people don't watch the films because most Americans don't share the same anti-war sentiments as the far left Hollywood film makers. I believe that they are out of touch with the rest of America. Producer Steve Bochco said "Iraq films remain a difficult sell for audiences because of the swirl of confusion surrounding the rights and wrongs of the conflict..." He also said that "World War II was hugely romanticized in terms of its fiction. There were unambiguous villains, and the feeling we were fighting the right people over the right issues, as opposed to this war, which many people feel is misguided." I didn't know there were ambiguous villains in the current conflict? I don't think it's the movie viewing public that has a problem getting around the "swirl of confusion". I think the movie industry has a problem realizing that mainstream America understands the war and wants to win it. Maybe they should try making a film about the good that the troops are doing over there. That would be a good way to test their theories. I bet they would make more money too. |

Re: Why people aren't going to anti-war movies
I think it is mainly that Americans don't want to see movies that put the U.S. Military in a negative light. The public knows that the troops are generally good and do the best job that they can.
I bet that a good movie about the troops will do well. The reason Black Hawk down did well is because it showed the true heroism of our military. |
