When you write garbage...
Time Magazine's circulation has dropped a staggering 17% in just one year! When you continuously push a political agenda (global warming, Democratic candidate on every cover, etc) you start to lose readership. You can't go a few weeks without some Democratic candidate on the front cover of Time or Newsweek. Then when you place a Republican like Mitt Romney one the cover is says, "Can a Mormon be President" and they write a negative article on him.
Same goes for the New York Time. Their Print revenue is down 7%. When you write a magazine you should write for all readers, not just global warming believing Democrats who are against the war in Iraq. The support for the Iraq war is up 8% this month because the surge is working. When you constantly slam a President that 51% of the nation voted for you will lose readership. I am glad to see that political businessmen like the editors at the NYT and Time Magazine have felt the backlash! |

Re: When you write garbage...
Hate to break it to you, but readership is UP at many other newspapers and magazines. Ask yourself why Time is down 17%.
Global warming is a fact. Humans causing it is nonsense. Do me a favor. Walk outside tomorrow in the day time and look into the sky. You will notice a big ball of gas called the sun. Do you think you and your SUV cause more heat than the sun? I do look at the facts instead of listening to UN scientist who get paid IF humans cause global warming. This is like listening to dairy farmers tell me that milk is great for you. They have an investment in the message. Just a suggestion, but watching Al Gore's crappy movies are not researching the facts. |

Re: When you write garbage...
I hate to throw facts into the argument. So, Time went down 17%, but SI went up 77% and you are telling me it is the internet? Let me guess, people don't read sports online?

The Oprah Magazine, up 4.3% to 2.4 million, and Hearst's Good Housekeeping, up 2.8% to 4.7 million. |

New guy. Serving in Korea.
Paul Harvey just said Newsweek's next issue will say "Global Warming is a Fraud." It may well be, since I think Mr. Al Gore may be serious, but is not a real person, and certainly not deserving of any award. Not even miss congeniality. Yahoo today said someone found a warning about Global warming in the 1930's. It seems the warmest years were around 1935. There may be a problem, but that ball of fire is more of a problem than the population and pollution. |

Regarding this:
"The support for the Iraq war is up 8% this month because the surge is working. " As of March 4, the surge was a failure. And 11 of our 18 measures of success in Iraq are also a failure. I did not read that in Time or Newsweek. I heard it on CNN's cable broadcast. |

Maybe liberal CNN isn't the best source of the ground truth in a combat zone. |

I heard Harvey say that too, and he seemed smug about what he apparently thought was liberals coming around to his point of view. I was skeptical of his claim, especially when I didn't hear any more about it. So I looked up the article and found it argues the opposite of what Mr. Harvey claimed it would. The FULL title, including the subtitle, is: "Global Warming is a Hoax* *Or so claim well-funded nay-sayers who still reject the overwhelming evidence of climate change. Inside the denial machine. By Sharon Begley" Maybe Mr. Harvey or his staff should do some more fact-checking before trying to forecast what the judgement of forthcoming articles will be. Or, even better, maybe they should wait till articles are actually published before commenting on them. I like Mr. Harvey's radio broadcasts and hate to see him in this humiliating situation. I have a feeling that his staff dropped the ball on the due diligence and Newsweek might have leaked part of the title to titillate the public. They certainly got some free advertising out of it from Mr. Harvey. This case does reveal that some people are so eager to dismiss global warming they will do so before they've even heard the arguments. |
