It seems that the recent increases in the cost for dairy, energy and fuel are going to bring about other increases that will drop the average American down to their knees. That’s right – it seems that consumers will have to cut back to only four tall macchiatos a week.
Starbucks announced today (7/23/07) that it is going to have to increase the prices of most of its drinks by about three percent, which is about $0.9 cents more a cup. This is the second time in a year that Starbucks has increased its prices. The company increased its prices by about $0.5 cents last October.
Will this price increase stop anyone from going to Starbucks to fulfill their caffeine fix? I doubt it. Consumers may complain a little while standing in line – but I do not think they will boycott the retailer. On the average, I think Americans have what they need to survive and can still “splurge” for what they want.
