Deficit Falls to $205 Billion

When Clinton was in office and the Deficit fell, it was reported on every channel for weeks. When it falls during the Bush Administration it get's a tiny, buried page in Brietbart. It got a whole 2 paragraphs from the AP.
WASHINGTON (AP) - The nation's budget deficit will drop to $205 billion in the fiscal year that ends in September, less than half of what it was at its peak in 2004, according to new White House estimates.

President Bush planned to discuss the figures in an afternoon appearance.

The new figure is considerably smaller than original estimates. In February, the White House predicted that this year's deficit would be $244 billion because of stronger-than-expected revenue collections. The deficit hit a peak of $413 billion in 2004 and was $248 billion last year.

Re: Deficit Falls to $205 Billion

That is the way of our media in the U.S. If a Democrat makes progress it gets headline news, if a Republican makes progress they just keep it quiet so as not to upset the balance of how people think in our country. Hating Conservatives and President Bush is far to much fun for everyone to actually understand that he is well educated, well intentioned, and that the Right can actually make progress for our Nation. Vice-versa, if a Democrat does something wrong, it's either hushed up by the media, or signed off as a one-off mistake of a 'normal everyday person just like you and I.' *sob*

Another funny note is that Pres. Bush actually exceeded his financial promises he made during his re-election campaign. The deficit included...the decreases are/were part of one of his economic plans during re-election. You won't find that success story running in the New York Times.

Re: Deficit Falls to $205 Billion

You're right. The problem is going to come up during the next election. Anything that is good will be cast by the media in a negative light. Everything that is bad will be cast in a positive light.

It will be a scary (and very different) US if the Dems win the House, Senate, and the presidancy. If they win the House and Senate with a big enough majority, it will be difficult to fillibuster or defeat any bill. The nightmare will come true.

Dem's in the House, Senate, and Presidency....sounds like socialism is right around the corner. It might be a good time to move to Australia. Can you imagine:

Hillary as president, Bill as the foreign envoy, and Barbara Boxer as Secretary of State. Then Cindy Sheehan as Secretary of Defense. Scary!
