Who will take the independent vote?

It looks like many independents are torn between Obama and McCain. Who do you think will take the independent vote?

Re: Who will take the independent vote?

I honestly think that Obama can squeeze out the Independent vote. He's very popular with many varying kinds of people on the Left, and he strikes a certain chord with some of the Independents already.

It seems a lot of the Independents in our nation are one of two ways; 'so strongly anti-war' that even the Democrats aren't doing good enough, and the 'not so strong-anymore Republicans' who want a change from the Bush administration's "wait a little longer" approach to the war and domestic issues.

I think Senator Obama has enough clout and personal strength to tip his hat to a little bit of both of those crowds. I also think that he's young (inexperienced? I don't know) enough that he isn't glued to "old Washington" or the "good-ol boy" political system yet. He brings something fresh to the fight and that may not be half-bad.

I personally don't agree with all of his outlooks, and I don't consider myself a Democrat by any means. But I have to give Obama credit where credit is deserved.
