Re: Are We to Remove God Completely from Our Nation?

Hey Vis,

You know where I am going to side on this one. I must admit that I am not the most religious person in the world. I would consider myself agnostic even. That said, I don't understand what the big deal is with the reference to God. What are people afraid of? I just don't understand. If you are that offended by the reference to God, you have to get a life and get over it. There are a million other problems that are more important than that.

This is the way I see it. The first amendment states the following:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."

The word God does not equate to "establishing" a religion. That is reason number one why they are wrong to remove the reference.

As far as I can tell, removing the reference actually breaks the law because in a sense you are prohibiting the free expression of religion.

This is getting old. This is the greatest country in the world and we did it with religion being a part of daily life. I can't be all that bad.
