Re: Spacey dines in Venezuela

Quote:
Chavez has said Venezuela hopes to produce its own films as an alternative to the "cultural imperialism" of Hollywood. Yet, Chavez speaks highly of some Hollywood films.
So Hollywood is apparently spreading their empire to the ends of the earth implementing their imperial policies of ruining culture...is basically what he's saying. But he did love Star Wars...the originals of course. The new trilogy is quite obviously part of the imperial takeover<insert sarcasm>.*

I don't agree with some of the things Hollywood does (political maneuvering for either side), but entertainment isn't some sort of powerful cultural movement taking over the earth...that I'm aware of. Police Academy didn't influence the military coup in Thailand...I hope

But oh, how our actors/actresses love visiting with Chavez. He's like a knight of the round table of the new world to some apparently.

*as a note I don't know that Chavez likes Star Wars.
