Senator Fred Thompson finally entered the race for president. He made the official announcement last night on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno despite the fact that he was missing the Fox News Presidential debate. He published a You Tube video discussing his candidacy.

Here is a clip of Senator Fred Thompson’s announcement on the Tonight Show. I did not see it live, just on youtube.com. To be honest, I do not know much about him. However, he did look very much in command and comfortable and I think he is going to add another level to this debate.

In one of my previous posts, I mentioned that I was tired of waiting on him. However, after watching the clip, I have changed my mind. The reason he says that he waited until Labor Day is that in the past, it was customary to announce after Labor Day. However, for this election it seems the rules have changed and people have been spending millions and campaigning for months. He said “I was not in the room when the rules were changed”, so he just decided to do what he wanted. Quite frankly, I liked his answer. Whether or not it is the real reason, I could not tell you. But I do know that campaign feels like it has been going on forever and we still have about 14 months to go.
