Re: Who won the CNN/YouTube.com Debate Winner?
Given that Dr. Paul only had 3 1/2 min. of airtime, I'd say he was by far the best per capita. The questions were skewed to what CNN already knew what the answer was gonna be. Come on, "Do you believe in these conspiracies?"! What conspiracies? That the CFR or Tri-Lateral Commission exists? Is there a push for a North American Union? Former Mexican Pres. Fox said on CNN(!) that a North American Union is a "long term" goal! Yes, Ron Paul, given the bias of CNN, still won this debate. The "front runners" are just "media darlings" and more people than main stream media wants to admit have figured this out!

To "I love Ron Paul",
I love him too but I felt a little confused when I read this part of your post, "I was embarrased that he could't remeber who the kurds were but but then Ron has more life and vigor in him than most 72 yeear old ..." Could you tell me what you are referencing there ? I only missed a small interlude in the debate, and I sure didn't see anything like that. Thank you, Chris |

Ah.
To "I love Ron Paul": I just reread your post and noticed it began with : No need for any further explanation about your insinuation against Ron Paul; just keep on supporting Thompson and try to do it honestly, and may the best candidate win, fair enough ? |

Re: Who won the CNN/YouTube.com Debate Winner?
he was obviously the victim of an effort to keep him silent. He was asked very few questions and teh only questions that he was asked and given 90 seconds to reply to (as opposed to 30 for rebuttal/response) were clearly designed to force him to defend himself instead of discussing the issue. Very intelligent for the debate designers but it was very obvious and though I have donated to McCain and Paul already. I am now only going to support Dr. Paul. McCain surprised me with his low blow to Dr. paul as well when he said the Iraqi soldiers told him to tell Dr. Paul to let them win. I know ALOT of people in Iraq and THEY re the ones who turned me onto him.. and for trrying to peg him as an Isolationist.. shame. Sure he's beating McCain in fundraising but hat was small man politics which I thought McCain was above. Shame on him.. McCain and Giuliani did the worst from my perspective and Huckabee and of course Dr. paul excelled (again especially considering the effort to supporess him).

Re: Who won the CNN/YouTube.com Debate Winner?
oh and another thing. I think it's a great payback that there IS an army of ron paul supporters who go from poll to poll online and skew em. GOOD!
The polling practices that the professional pollsters and media call "scientific' usually sample only 500-1000 people at a time and and have such ridiculous limits (some recipients must be registered in a particular party in previous election cycle, some need only land line phones, some only call along certain phone lists obtained by special interest groups etc... that they are HARDLY scientific they are usually scams. think back to every election cycle and how badly the media always loves pushing them on us as they can avoid tackling real news as always. Man I can't beleive how pissed I got tonight. it was like an awakening. I wish I had time to go from poll to poll to poll and help them now, especially after seeing so blatantly how he is ignored by teh major media. Let them continue to have NO IDEA how much support ron paul really has until the Caucuses in Iowa and Primary in NH. all about it now... |

Re: Who won the CNN/YouTube.com Debate Winner?
Voted Ron Paul.
While I don't think it was Ron Paul's best showing (he stumbled over some words and didn't get much air time), he still did the best in terms of what I feel are the main issues: He's non-interventionist, against occupying foreign nations, for a strong national defense, for national sovereignty, for limited government, for state's rights, for personal liberties, he has real and significant ways to cut spending and get this country out of debt, he understands we have to take responsibility for our actions of occupation rather than just blaming the hatred toward us on irrational thought or jealousy (which is quite irrational for any American to do imo). I don't see these things from the other candidates. Maybe on just one issue, but Ron Paul encompasses everything I want in a candidate. I also think Fred Thompson did pretty well tonight, and Tancredo had a couple of nice moments. I wasn't impressed by any of the "frontrunners". |

Re: Who won the CNN/YouTube.com Debate Winner?
It's hard to understand why Ron Paul has such wide support. Start with looking at the fact that there's a multitude of americans catalyzed by the mere (yet revered) message of hope for constitutional government. It's as simple as that. These people you see supporting Ron Paul know for a fact, that each of the polarized candidates, if they make it into office, will continue to work for corporations instead of the american people.

Dr. Paul (when he had a chance to speak of course) with a straight foreward reaction that stated the majority of his campaign money is coming from the men and women in the armed forces. Also his pointing out of the truth of a possible NAU and all but crushing the fact that Main Stream Media is playing him out to be a conspiracy theorist. Actually I got tired of the Romney show that aired tonight because it was easy to see that it was a biased show because of time allotment for each of the candidates. And what ever happened to people voteing for which questions they thought most prevalent. CNN dropped the ball on that one....oh wait I forgot MSM ran that show...how forgetful of me.

Re: Who won the CNN/YouTube.com Debate Winner?
Though I am a Ron Paul supporter, and though I did vote for Ron Paul in this poll, I am getting tired of every single one of his supporters trolling every single online poll there is. It is quite skewed and really does not make people think he has a wide range of support. It just proves to the mainstream media, and all of those who choose to discredit him, that the majority of his support is on the Internet, which they try to spin as being a meaningless "world" full of people who will get nowhere in life. The average American knows little to nothing of Ron Paul if it weren't for word-of-mouth and the Internet, and it is sad, but we shouldn't spam every poll with "I support Ron Paul" and vote for him, just because it says Ron Paul.
As stated though, I did feel a large blow when he forgot what the Kurds are called, and though it may not be considered an acceptable excuse, the man is 72 years old. It is quite obvious CNN had rigged this debate from the get-go, and completely disregarded the thousands of videos in support of Ron Paul, questions which he would be able to answer which no other GOP candidate can even attempt to answer without spewing right-wing pro-war and pro-stupidity rhetoric, rather than something more along the lines of common sense as we see from Dr. Paul. Someone I know made a tally of the amount of questions which were directed towards each candidate, and it is quite obvious that there is an intentional lack of attention towards everyone except Giuliani and Romney. Local news networks are now calling them front-runners, which is obviously a tactic at discrediting and marginalizing Ron Paul (and all those who trail him), who in actuality has been gaining more support than ever. He was very firm with his answers, but was cut off numerous times and I'm pretty sure the amount of "boo"s in the audience were intentional and something CNN had prior knowledge of. Every other debate Dr. Paul has been a part of, the audience has been a general audience from the local area, of all different backgrounds. Here, we had members planted in the audience, as CNN ran the story later of a man from the Hillary Clinton campaign planting a question (the veteran speaking of gays in the military). CNN's story after the debate apologized to the public, stating that if they had known this fact earlier (which is a fact gained from YouTube and Independent media outlets actually), they would not have added this question into the debate. All in all, Dr. Paul was the strongest here, and did not retaliate against the attacks against him. He only further spoke of his stance on issues. I myself on the political spectrum stand in the far left, past liberal, however when it comes to religious issues (I am not a Christian) and issues which affect all of America and the world, such as wars, the economy, etc., I am very conservative. Dr. Paul shares most of the views as I do, therefore he has my support, and vote during the primaries as I will register Republican. |
