Democratic Presidential hopefuls reach out to Hispanics
The University of Miami was the stage of the most recent Democratic Presidential debate. It was hosted by Univision and all but one candidate showed up. [In his defense, Sen. Joe Biden did not partake in this debate because he was just returning from a trip to Iraq.] The questions were asked in Spanish by two Univision anchors, Maria Elena Salinas and Jorge Ramos. However, the candidates were to answer in English but their answers were translated and broadcast in Spanish – a first ever. It seems that Sen. Richardson (who is a Mexican descendent) broke the rules and did speak Spanish.
Issues such as the construction of the wall along the Mexican border, Latin American issues and the upcoming “General Petraeus report” were discussed. Unfortunately, I was not able to see it. Was anyone able to see it? Know where to get transcripts? For a short video on the event, check out: TheNewsRoom | Welcome To TheNewsRoom |
