Re: Obama and Pastor Wright
In regards to your 2nd paragraph on if Obama does agree with the pastor... I have a very hard time believing Obama has issues against "white people of this country" as you say, seeing as how he has a white mother and white grandparents. Especially considering the fact that his black father died when he was what, 2 years old? I suppose anything's possible, but come on. To hate your own family members because they're a certain race? In my experiences, the people that are exposed to different races as young children are the ones who are more tolerant.
And yes, all politicians do certain things to "just to get elected." Good luck finding the one person in the world who may not be like that.

Re: Obama and Pastor Wright
You are probably right - I really do not think he does not like white people. I am more inclined to believe that he went to that church just to get "points". Either way, I must admit that regardless of which one is right, I really do not trust him and I will not be voting for him.
Re: your comment "And yes, all politicians do certain things to "just to get elected." Good luck finding the one person in the world who may not be like that.", I think we do (or did) have one. I may regret saying this and no, I do not plan on voting for him - but I think Ron Paul is one of those politicians. He sticks to what he believes (although i do not agree with him on some of the issues) and does not care if he gets ridiculed, etc. For that, I have to respect the man. |

Re: Obama and Pastor Wright
What it all comes down to is race...it's an issue because white people feel threatened that somehow this guy is going to do something to screw them over. But all politicians do the things that get them "points". Think back to President Bush holding a Mexican flag. Think about all of the photo ops politicians do. Everyone does this because you have to show different communities that you support them, but because it involves race, it creates uneasiness in white people (and justifiably so if this pastor isn't exactly preaching the kindest of words...so that didn't work out for Obama). They disregard the fact that he is a Christian raised by the white side of his family because the media and rumor mills do such a good job at making us feel paranoid because his name is what it is, because his skin color is slightly darker than the average Caucasian, and because he's a fresh face. I personally like the fresh face concept because although he's just another politician, the insiders that have been around Washington for quite some time, like Clinton and McCain, have already been the people controlling the country, and we know what they've gotten us. It wouldn't hurt, in my view, to try something new at this point. That being said, I too liked the prospect of Ron Paul, and I was a supporter of Mike Gravel before the media slowly edged him out of the picture.
